Experience
I was given my tabby cat, Katy, on my 7th birthday. She lived
until 18 and even now all these years on, she was still my best ever birthday present by far :) I also had two canine cousins during childhood – Sasha, the gentlest giant of a Doberman you could ever meet and Suzie, the mischievous collie mix. Those
little three gave me some of my happiest memories during childhood and my lifelong love for animals was sealed by them
all of those years ago.

After leaving my lengthy career in law and setting up my housesitting business, my first house sit (and where it all began) was caring for Benji, a little whirlwind teddy bear dog, for 5
nights a week between September 2017 to May 2018. This little chap truly stole my heart and whenever I return to Hertfordshire, it’s always so lovely to see him again. The beauty of this line of business is that I’ve ended up with friends of the human and
furry variety scattered all over the country along the way ;)

Since Benji, I have had over 300 separate house sits caring for over 500 animals which have included countless breeds, sizes and temperaments of dog (small, large, reactive, anxious), cats, chickens, pigs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, countless fish and even a beautiful pair of peacocks thrown in for good measure!

I’ve had many repeat sits too now and it is always heart-warming to return to my previous little ones and experience their reaction when Auntie Kairen unexpectedly turns up.

It’s just so simple though with animals: they never forget anyone who has shown them kindness, fun and love, and always return it unconditionally tenfold, bless their little hearts.

Qualifications

In the early years of setting up my business, I undertook extensive
studying over many months to make sure that I was as professionally
qualified as I possibly could be when it came to caring for my little ones.
Of course, experience and genuine love for animals takes you a long
way but I have always taken the academic side incredibly seriously too.
I hope that my accredited qualifications (all achieving a ‘Higher Distinction’
as the result where exams were graded) and the expense that I outlaid in studying for them demonstrate how dedicated I am to my profession and
my ongoing commitment to being one of the very best all-rounders within
the industry.

It was important to me to know as much as I could in all aspects of animal
care and I continue to refresh and update my knowledge even after all these years. I also knew from the start that my extensive animal qualifications
would further reassure my owner clients of my dedication and give them
peace of mind that their little ones really are left in the safest and most knowledgeable of hands with me in their absence.
